A fuel spill forced a California office building to evacuate its employees.

In the business world, companies must be prepared to deal with the unexpected. For organizations at an office building in Irvine, California, this was especially true when they had to evacuate the grounds after approximately 200 gallons of fuel spilled in the basement, the Orange County Register reported.

Authorities at the scene evacuated the building’s inhabitants for nearly two hours. The news source said the local Health Care Agency assessed the spill’s flammability, as well as the environmental and impact of the fumes.

Orange County Fire Authority captain Marc Stone said a private fuel company was called to the scene to conduct issue a clean up of the incident.

“Diesel fuel doesn’t have the flashpoint gasoline does, but it’s still dangerous,” Stone said, according to the County Register report.

Companies must always be on alert to respond to all types of incidents. One way businesses can ensure their employees remain updated during evacuations, fires, floods and other natural disasters is through the use of emergency notification systems from One Call Now. New York Invents What We’ve Done For Years

Earlier this week, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the FCC unveiled an emergency notification service to send geographically-targeted messages to cell phones in the affected area. The service is expected to be available in NYC by the end of this year and rolled out to other cities. Users need to have a new generation of cell phone for operation.

We are pleased that the FCC and the City of New York recognize the need for emergency alerts for homeland security and other threats. But One Call Now addressed this issue a few years ago. Thousands of clients agreed, and use our system to protect, inform, and engage their audiences. Over a five-week period this spring, lives were saved because of One Call Now warnings about oncoming tornadoes and storms.

One Call Now believes in getting the word out to everyone – by voice, text message and email – with a guaranteed 100% uptime. Our mantra is “when messages matter, we deliver.”

Our system sends messages to voice, text, Twitter, Facebook, and email all at once. You don’t need to be the Mayor of NYC, the President, or the head of the FCC. And you don’t need a new phone or a special chip.

You just need to value the safety of your group… your citizens, employees, residents, congregation, students, and team. Over 15 million families are safer today and better informed with One Call Now because of Midwest ingenuity and a common understanding of what’s important in life.
